The Mid Programme Review of the Council’s Net Zero Plan highlights how the Council has successfully reduced carbon emissions by 37%, emitting nearly 10,000 tonnes lessthan our baseline year (2016/17). This is enough gas to fill Parc Y Scarlets 11 times!
Climate Action Sir Gar brings together the work carried out across Council departments to mitigate against and adapt to climate change, protect and enhance the natural environment and to build a sustainable future for generations to come.

Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Decarbonisation and Sustainability, Cllr Aled Vaughan Owen, said:“During Wales Climate Week we recognise the extensive work carried out across Council departments to reduce carbon emissions, mitigate climate change and build a sustainable future for Carmarthenshire.”
Wales Climate Week is an annual event which brings together the public sector, businesses, industry and communities to discuss climate change decisions and actions. This year’s theme centres on creating a practical plan for reducing carbon emissions over the next five years and beyond, with a particular focus on unlocking the benefits of change.
To mark the event, Climate Action Wales are hosting a virtual conference which focuses on spotlight areas such as housing, transport and agriculture.
Carmarthenshire County Council continues to strive towards its goal of being a Net Zero local authority by 2030 to help shape a prosperous, sustainable future for generations to come. These efforts are improving the natural environment as well as the well-being of communities.
