CAN you help Aberglasney win the RHS ‘Nature Partner Garden of the Year’ Award? Vote for your favourite Garden for a chance to win a £100 RHS Garden gift voucher.

The RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) is inviting garden visitors to vote for their favourite RHS Partner Garden ‘Garden of the Year’. Votes can be cast up until 12 noon on Monday, September 21 2026 via the RHS website: www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/partner-gardens/rhs-partner-garden-of-the-year/vote .

This year, garden lovers are being asked to vote on which garden celebrates nature in all its wonder through innovative planting schemes or projects which support the wildlife on their doorstep.

Aberglasney is open throughout the year and has been described as one of Wales’ finest gardens. Visitors to the Carmarthenshire attraction can explore 10 acres of over 20 different garden styles from formal to woodland, right through to sub-tropical and modern. Exhibitions and events are held regularly in the fully restored ground floor of Aberglasney’s grade II* listed mansion. There is also a gift shop and tearooms. Dogs are allowed to visit, on a lead, every Thursday, if they bring their responsible owners with them.

Aberglasney Gardens’ Director, Helen Scutt, said:

“Nature is very close to my heart with me being an entomologist. It is woven through every corner of Aberglasney. Pollinator friendly planting supports the bee hives we have on site and woodland log piles provide shelter for hedgehogs and other wildlife. Bird boxes and buildings offer nesting sites for Jackdaws. The pond is visited by otters and families of ducks while deer move through the surrounding fields. Every habitat is cared for with the aim of making the gardens a true home for nature.

She continued: “This summer, we are extending our summer flowering wildflower meadow in the hope we can provide extra nectar for a worryingly decreasing insect population. We know our visitors and members already appreciate a visit to Aberglasney brings them joy amongst nature, but it would be fantastic to win this prestigious title. We hope we can rely on everyone to vote for us as their favourite RHS Nature Partner Garden.”

Visitors can choose which RHS Partner Garden brings them joy.in each of six regions: Midlands and East Anglia; North and Northern Ireland; Overseas; Scotland; South-East and Channel Islands; the South West and Wales.

All voters will be entered into a prize draw to win a £100 RHS Garden gift voucher. You don’t need to be an RHS member. The garden winners will be revealed towards the end of the year and will receive a special plaque to display at their garden as well as a professional photoshoot of their garden (UK gardens only).

Dr Tim Upson, RHS Director of Gardens and Horticulture, said, “The excitement of discovering nature in a garden, whether that be through encountering wonderful plant diversity alive with insects or initiatives welcoming different forms of wildlife, always brightens a day. Our RHS Partner Gardens are on the frontline of supporting biodiversity through their planting and wildlife projects and this year we are delighted to be celebrating how they champion nature in our annual competition.”

The annual award celebrates the huge variety of gardens that fall under the RHS’s Partner Garden 240-strong portfolio which includes beautiful walled gardens, historic estates, horticultural gems and contemporary spaces across the UK and overseas.
