The Pembrokeshire Dawn Walk on May 17 is already receiving entries and Macmillan Cancer Support are delighted with the response so far.

Macmillan provide a range of specialist cancer services. They fund Macmillan nurses, GPs, physiotherapists, as well as a cancer helpline, a benefits line and a youth helpline.

A visit to their website indicates the numbers of people who seek information from their online message board, where thousands of people contact one another from all over the UK in order to share experiences and gain support from others.

Their merger with Cancerbackup has proved very successful as it is widely recognised as providing the best quality information about every type of cancer and treatment.

In 2008, Macmillan Cancer Support awarded grants to the value of £22,756 to 67 families in the Pembrokeshire area.

Grants cover essential costs such as convalescence and treatment fairs, new washing machine, clothing and increased fuel costs.

The money raised at the Pembrokeshire Dawn Walk will be helping Macmillan provide support to local people living with cancer.

Join other walkers who will be setting off at dawn, and completing 26 miles, starting at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, and finishing at Cresselly Cricket Club.

There is also a shorter walk of 13 miles starting at Loveston crossroads.
