Wynne Evans brought the energy, passion, and sheer good fun of his BBC Radio Wales programme to Narberth’s Queens Hall last Thursday (July 14) as he continued his tour of Wales with another knockout performance of his Townhall Showdown.

Local musical acts, including singer-songwriter Jodie Marie and members of the Carmarthen Youth Opera also contributed to the electrifying atmosphere of the evening, which incorporated regular features from Wynne’s daily show into his stage performance that included a real-life version of the Mystery Voice quiz featuring rugby player Ken Owens.

Wynne’s BBC Radio Wales programme always showcases the listeners, and hilarious stories from members of the capacity crowd in Narberth came to life when retold with Wynne’s unique verve and dynamism.

Wynne Evans’ Townhall Showdown will be performed in venues across Wales this summer, at a different location each month, while the highlights of the Narberth show will be broadcast on Wynne’s BBC Radio Wales programme shortly after the event. They can also be listened to via BBC Sounds.

BBC Radio Wales’ acting editor Dominic Jewel said: “It’s hard to put into words just what a great night out this show is – fantastic music, great chat, and very, very funny. And one of the stand-out features of the evening is the incredible sense of community Wynne builds – you can just feel it. Our listeners really are the stars of the show, and we’re so proud of all of them.”

Lacey Smith, who attended the Narberth show says “It was such a fun night, we thoroughly enjoyed it and we laughed all night. My daughter Ivy was also so delighted to meet Wynne.”

The next stop on the BBC Radio Wales: Wynne Evans’ Townhall Showdown will be at the Stiwt Theatre in Rhosllanerchrugog, Wrexham on Thursday 4 August. It’s already sold out, but highlights of that show will also be broadcast and available via BBC Sounds.
