THE Summer Reading Challenge is over for another year but a good number of young readers completed it, collecting their stickers along the way and their medals and certificates on finishing. All the winners of the Gadgeteer bags have been notified.

Lego Club is back from Friday, October 7, 3 to 4pm, so go along and be creative. No booking is required but as space is limited, numbers attending may have to be restricted. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. It will be on every Friday during term-time.

For younger readers, Baby Rhyme Time is on Monday mornings, 10:30 to 11am, for all pre-school children and their adults. It is a drop-in event, no booking required, just turn up and enjoy the stories and songs.

There are new novels in this month by Ann Cleeves, Robert Galbraith, Robert Harris, Val McDermid and Richard Osman. The Library also has copies of the longlist for the Diverse Book Awards; these books aim to depict characters who are not typically represented in fiction, such as diversity in class, race, gender identity, sexuality, disability, background and other forms of identity.

New in non-fiction books this month include a range to help a household budget stretch further such as The Consumer Survival Guide, Feed Your Family More For Less, Mend It, Wear It, Love It, and On The Money.

Food waste bags are freely available at the library on request; there is also a supply of the recycling boxes and bags. They no longer have orange bags for mixed recycling.

The library does not hold grey bags for general waste at all; if you need more grey bags, please contact the Council on 01437 764551 Mon-Fri 9am-5pm or email [email protected].
