Llangwm photographer David Wilson has announced that publication day for his autobiography, An Unlikely Photographer, will be at this year’s Literary Festival on Saturday, August 9.

“Join me as I talk about my motivation for writing the book and the highs and lows of a life that hasn’t always made sense!”

An Unlikely Photographer is the account of David’s journey from near death and life-altering injuries to realising the photographic vision which he has used to capture the character of the Welsh landscape.

Acclaimed for his striking black and white images of the nation's wildness and natural beauty, David Wilson’s remarkable body of photographic work was almost never realised. Aged just 18, a motorbike accident came close to costing him his life, and changed his future forever.

Candid, witty and challenging, An Unlikely Photographer recounts David's progression from that defining moment, through the challenge of partial recovery and a battle with depression, to the joy of family life and becoming one of Wales’ finest photographers.

Griff Rhys Jones - the actor, comedian, writer and television presenter, said: “I salute David. This is an inspiring account of sheer determination and bloody-mindedness in building a life and finding happiness in spite of a terrible injury.”

The event takes place between 2.30 and 3.30pm in the Big Marquee.

David joins a host of other authors, poets, presenters and musicians at Langwm Litfest, including Angela John, Angharad Underwood, Ben Aitken, Dr Beth Mackintosh, Carole Cadwalladr, Colin Thubron, Gill Lewis, Jack Meggitt-Phillips, Professor Janet Todd, John Roach, Julia Horton-Mansfield, Juliane von Reppert-Bismarck, Mark Lewis, Miranda Seymour, Nicola Davies, Penny Reuben, Philippa Davies, Ryan Spence and Sarah Waters.

Entry to the festival site is free but tickets are required for all events (visit llangwmlitfest.co.uk or call 07970 812050). Cleddau Reach School will offer free parking.
