St David’s Day celebrations last for a whole seven days this year in Tenby, with a variety of entertainments to appeal to all.

Tenby St David’s Festival 2024 is a series of events in Tenby celebrating St David and St David’s day and spans the week between Thursday, February 29 and Wednesday, March 6. It will be community based and affordable, some with entry fees to pay for the cost of hiring the hall, most with retiring collections for  charities.

The Festival gets going with a united choirs performance. On the Thursday, the last day of February, the combined voices of the Quaynotes, Griffon Choir, Serendipity Ladies and St Mary’s Church Choir will be heard in song at St Johns Church hall. There will be a collection for the PATCH (Pembrokeshire Action to Combat Hardship) charity.

Friday, March 1, St David’s Day, is marked by a talk on Saint David by Rev’d Nigel Griffiths. Admission is £5, or £3 for Tenby & District Arts Club members.

On March 2, there will be a Noson Lawen Variety Show held in St Mary’s Church House. Everyone is invited to contribute an item. It can be anything you like as long as it is legal, suitable for a family audience and takes less than five minutes. Contact Duncan on [email protected] or Anne on [email protected] (01834 842730) to go on the line-up.

Jess Ward, harpist and songwriter, will perform at St Mary’s Church House on Sunday, March 3. Admission is £5.

Church House is again the venue on the Monday for Mark Lewis’ exploration of the life and works of Dylan Thomas, ‘For as long as forever is’.

Tuesday’s event is a classic film: ‘The Englishman who went up a Hill but came down a Mountain’. Showing at the De Valence Pavilion, it’s £5 or £4 for Films4Tenby members.

Festival finale is a ukulele singalong/playalong by local band the Slipway Ukes on Wednesday, March 6, with donations to the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Foundation.

All events start at 7pm.
