Tenby Museum and Art Gallery is inviting local people and visitors to discover the stories, collections and experiences on their doorstep as it takes part in this year’s Welsh Museums Festival, from Saturdaym October 24 to Sunday, November 1.
The Festival shines a light on the vital role museums and galleries play in communities across Wales, encouraging everyone to step inside their local museum, whether they are regular visitors or have never been before.
It also celebrates the fun, creativity and Welsh spirit of October half term in ways that are kinder to the planet, with natural and reusable materials, autumn trails and creative activities that cut down on glitter and single-use plastics.
Tenby Museum & Art Gallery will be running three events during the week:
• Tuesday - Create your own spooky clay tile to take home (£3 per participant)
• Wednesday - Demonstration sessions - watch how our staff and volunteers take care of our collections (free event)
• Thursday - Hands-on sessions - Come and get to know our collections, and handle some of the more unusual objects we have (free event)
All sessions will run from 11am to 1pm on a drop-in basis.
Admissions are £7 for adults and £6 for concessions, free admission for accompanied children under 13.
Anita Schwartz, Curator at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery, said: “We’re delighted to be taking part in the Welsh Museums Festival and to welcome people through our doors this October half term.
“Our museum is a place where local stories, memories and collections are cared for and shared with the community. Festival week is a wonderful chance to discover something new on your doorstep.”

Carly Davies, of the Federation of Museums and Art Galleries of Wales, said: “Discovering your local museum or gallery is a lovely way to spend time with loved ones over the October half term – especially if we get our traditional rainy half term!
“This year’s Festival is about reminding everyone that museums are for everyone, while celebrating sustainable ways to have a little more hwyl.”
Welsh Museums Festival is generously funded by the Welsh Government and organised by the Federation of Museums and Galleries of Wales.
