Tenby firefighter Lee Simmons came to talk to about 40 members of the Friendship Club about safety procedures.

On Wednesday, January 17 Lee showed members smoke alarms, fire alarms, vibrating alarms for people with hearing problems, etc. They were well entertained for over half an hour, and learnt a lot as well.

Lee urged his listeners to make sure as many as possible doors were closed at night, to make sure they don’t overload battery points, and other safety tips.

A lot of ladies requested a visit (he is a handsome young man, they say!) to make sure that they had the right fire precautions in their home. Lee’s job is to prevent fires, and to talk to groups and schools and the other firefighters would be the ones that came to do the safety checks!

It was a great afternoon, lots of chatting over a cuppa and plenty of time to relax. The sun came into the hall lovely, warming everybody on such a bitter cold day.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, January 24, the Rock Choir is coming to entertain the members - 2pm at Augustus Place Hall.

Next week, January 31, Dai Morgan, Tenby’s Mayor will be visiting the club at Augustus Place Hall.
