THE first concert of the new season for Pembroke and District Male Voice Choir was among new friends made last Christmas at Kensington Court, Steynton, Milford Haven.
After singing carols in December, the choir was invited back for a concert, which was very well supported by residents of Kensington Court.
Musical Director Juliet Rossiter’s choice of programme included songs from the musicals Les Misérables and Chess, and - by special request - Calon Lan and a special rendition for the choristers of Myfanwy.
Also entertaining was accompanist William Lambert who played and sang three items, ending with the fondly remembered Morcambe and Wise classic ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ with everyone joining in.
Deputy MC Ed Morris rose to the occasion with a fine selection of jokes, many at the expense of various sections of the choir which will make his popularity questioned!
In thanking the choir and musical team, Rosemary Cooper presented Juliet with a donation on behalf of all the residents. Refreshments and cakes were enjoyed thanks to volunteers Gail, Jackie, Gareth and Linda.
Choir practice is now in full voice each Tuesday evening, 7pm at St Teilo’s Church Hall, Pembroke Dock. Anyone who would like to try out male choral singing is invited to come along and join a very welcoming and friendly fraternity.
