The seaside town’s Mayor was on hand to open a new Contemporay Art Exhibition at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery - which as well as featuring local artists, also sees the work of Manic Street Preachers’ Nicky Wire on display.

Following the completion of an extensive renovation project, at the premises, the Museum is pleased to announce this collaborative exhibition featuring several renowned local artists and craftspeople.

The opening of this exhibition also marks the reopening of the Museum's dedicated temporary exhibition space.

Manic Street Preachers lyricist and bassist Nicky Wire held his first ever exhibition at Tenby Museum back in 2018.

Titled ‘Paintings and Polaroids’ - with a big part of Nicky’s inspiration coming from Tenby - a town that holds a special place in his heart.

The exhibition runs from May 18 to September 4.

After months of extensive refurbishment, your new-look Tenby Museum and Art Gallery has been delighted to welcome residents and visitors back into this historic building situated on Castle Hill.

Last year, it was announced that Tenby Museum and Art Gallery was among 29 cultural sites benefiting from £3m Welsh Government funding for facility enhancements.

Money from the funding will go towards the project ‘A Fine Ship to Sail: The Future of Tenby Museum & Art Gallery’.

The funding has allowed for improvements and renovation to the building, such as:

• Solar panels being connected;

• New double-glazed windows;

• New and accessible storage created;

• Display areas re-painted;

• Exterior painting of the building and new signage.

As part of the new look permanent collection in the Wilfred Harrison Gallery, a portrait of Betty Domleo was also recently donated by members of the family.
