On Wednesday March 9, ‘Crimes, Camera, Action’ will be whisking the Torch Theatre’s audience to the golden-era of Hollywood.

The play will introducing a new lead detective, a world-weary, hard-boiled private-eye in the mould of Humphrey Bogart: meet Stan Shakespeare. His case? A screen starlet is stabbed as a result of a prop mix-up on set.

It sets in motion a typically fast-paced and hilarious chain of events that sees a cast of four exceptional comic actors take on multiple roles, sometimes within the same scene.

Expect the usual New Old Friends mix of great theatrical set pieces, the quickest of quick changes, lightning fast word play and a thrilling plot driving the action at breakneck pace.

Like the previous New Old Friends shows that have previously visited the Torch (Crimes Under the Sun and Crimes on the Nile) ‘Crimes, Camera, Action’ is as every bit as energetic, inventive and amusing as the previous offerings in the ‘Crimes’ series.

Feargus Woods Dunlop from New Old Friends said: “We couldn’t be happier to be returning to touring after the Covid shutdown and visiting Milford Haven’s Torch Theatre.

“We have always loved Film-Noir and knew we wanted to take the Crimes… series into a slightly new world to give us fresh tropes to play with and new landscapes to create nonsense in.

“There is a slightly different structure to a Hollywood private-eye story than an English cosy-crime one and that has been great fun to explore. We are very excited to present this fresh spin on the popular series.”

‘Crimes, Camera, Action’ runs at the Torch Theatre Milford Haven on March 9 at 7.30 pm. Tickets cost £18 and £16 concessions.

This show is part of the National Lottery’s & UK Theatre’s Love Your Local Theatre campaign, where during the month of March when you buy a ticket for a participating show you get another free ticket courtesy of the National Lottery.
