Pembrokeshire artist - Lloyd the Graffiti has been in the heart of Fishguard creating this incredible new piece of street art inspired by Moby Dick in time for the Ar Ymyl y Tir/On Land’s Edge Festival in Fishguard, which takes place from September 25-27.

And it rather perfectly captures what this festival is all about. Because while there are some fantastic performances heading to the stages, Ar Ymyl y Tir doesn’t just happen on a stage, it's even out in the sea itself!

Another giant Moby Dick mural was unveiled on a Fishguard street corner to mark the town’s unique link with Herman Melville’s legendary great white whale.

The mural – situated at the junction of West Street and Brodog Terrace – is the work of celebrated local artist Lloyd The Graffiti.

The Festival commemorates the 70th anniversary of the cinematic release of John Huston’s classic movie which was filmed largely in Fishguard Bay.

Lloyd, who was eventually chosen to create the mural after festival organisers invited ex-pressions of interest, said he was delighted to land the commission.

“I was over the moon,” he said. “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working on this project from start to finish.”

His finished work was described as ‘brilliant’ by festival chairman Dr Patrick Thomas. “We definitely made the right choice,” he added.

Andrew White, Director for Wales for The National Lottery Heritage Fund, said: “The story of Moby Dick in Fishguard is a fascinating part of Pembrokeshire’s heritage, linking a Hollywood classic with the town’s deep connection to the sea.

“Thanks to National Lottery players the film’s 70th anniversary will be marked through events, activities and the return of a giant whale inspired by the famous film, connecting more people with this unique chapter in the town’s history."

Across the festival you’ll discover exhibitions and specially commissioned pieces of street art, get the chance to create with artist Raul Speek Gallery, and learn to make spectacular lanterns before taking to the streets as part of the Moby Dick-themed Lantern Parade.
