Keep an eye out this weekend in Tenby for ‘The Hay Shantymen’ performing at the lifeboat stations and the bandstand, as well as other venues in and around the harbour, raising money for the RNLI.
The group which is based in Hay-on-Wye get together to rollick their way through shanties and other great songs!
They have adopted the RNLI as their charity and raise funds wherever they perform. To date they have raised in excess of £8500.
Every year, The Hay Shantymen “go off on a jolly” spending the weekend at a town with a lifeboat station and singing there to raise funds for the local RNLI (and possibly visiting the odd hostelry).
This year it’s Tenby and on Saturday, September 9 they will be singing at both lifeboat stations, the Sailing Club and the Hope and Anchor.
Saturday’s schedule is as follows:
12 pm - Tenby RNLI Station (Castle Square)
1.15 pm - The Bandstand on Castle Hill
2 pm - RNLI Station on Castle Beach
6 pm - Tenby Sailing Club
8.30 pm - The Hope and Anchor.
On Sunday, September 10 they will be ‘busking’ outside St Mary’s Church in the town centre at around 11.30 am.
Head along for some rollicking good cheer all in support of Tenby lifeboat station.
