Lynwen Brennan, former Tenby Greenhill student, is to step up as co-leader at Lucasfilm, the company behind ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Indiana Jones’ - two of the highest-grossing Hollywood franchises in history.

With Kathleen Kennedy ending her 14-year run at Lucasfilm, it has been announced that she will be replaced by not one, but two executives when she leaves the Walt Disney Company this year - Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni and President and General Manager Lynwen Brennan, who will both lead the company.

Lynwen [nee Griffith], who was awarded Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2017 for her contributions in support of the UK’s visual effects industry; was educated in Penally VC School, and Ysgol Greenhill - Tenby’s Secondary School, before heading to the Royal Holloway University of London, where she gained a Bachelor of Science.

Lynwen’s late father Colin Griffith was headmaster of Penally School. Her mum Dorothy, affectionately known as Dot, passed away in 2024. Lynwen is the sister of Gareth Griffith, and Sian Lowe.

Her career with Lucasfilm started in 1999 with her role as Technical Area Leader for Lucasfilm’s storied visual effects company, Industrial Light & Magic. She rose through the ranks to become President of ILM in 2009.

As President, Lynwen guided ILM through one of its most successful periods. Under her leadership, ILM expanded its global footprint, opening offices in Vancouver, British Columbia, and London; grew its San Francisco studio; and significantly expanded its highly successful Singapore studio.

Entertainment giant Disney bought the Lucasfilm studio in 2012.

In February 2015 Lynwen was promoted to General Manager and EVP of Lucasfilm; and became its president and general manager in 2024.

She is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
