Trewgynt Mansion hosts Fishguard Arts Society’s Summer Art Exhibition on this special occasion of their 30 year Anniversary. It is an annual open competition with first prize of £750 and a People’s Choice of £250.

Fishguard Arts Society aims to take the arts to the wider community, to improve and encourage arts opportunities and to help develop talents, skills and creative ability across all sections of society.

The society welcomes people to a 30 years celebration Summer Art Exhibition at Tregwynt Mansion (near Fishguard SA62 5UU)

Opening on August 15, the exhibition continues until August 31.

On August 20 there will be a Baroque evening music performance by the Gwaun Trio: Nia Harries, cello; Lorna Osbon, violin and Matthew Bale, harpsichord (full details on the Fishguard Arts Society website). This is the start of the Fishguard and West Wales International Music Festival which runs from Saturday, August 20 to Saturday, September 10.

Fishguard Arts Society was established in 1992 and by 2002 the enthusiasm of its members led to sub committees for film, performing arts, literature as well as the visual arts. Another amazing successful outcome was The Last Invasion Trust which led to the Last Invasion Tapestry which is displayed in Fishguard Town Hall.

Fishguard Arts Society itself became a charity and for the last thirty years has promoted the arts in the community by providing visual art exhibitions and a variety of workshops such as life drawing, collage, printing, origami and Japanese shodo writing. The society continued to provide portrait sessions by zoom and even managed an outdoor exhibition during lockdown.

The society is looking forward to the next 30 years!
