Thanks to the support of Carmarthenshire County Council and funding from the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), Carmarthenshire’s town centres have come alive this summer with a fantastic series of events that have brought communities together, celebrated local talent, showcased amazing local produce, and helped our town centres thrive - and this Saturday sees Carmarthen River Fest take place.

Even more exciting events are on the way, promising fun, entertainment, and unforgettable experiences for all.

Carmarthenshire has already celebrated the incredible Carmarthen Merlin Festival, the retro-fuelled Llanelli 80s Festival, and the deliciously successful Ammanford Summer Food Festival. These events are a key part of the Council’s mission to help bring people back into town centres, support independent traders, and create welcoming town centres.

With many more events still to look forward to this summer and planned across the coming months, there's no better time to explore what Carmarthenshire has to offer.

Carmarthen River Fest – 19 July - Carmarthen Town Council presents River Fest, a celebration of the River Tywi and the spirit of Carmarthen. Enjoy water-themed activities, local food, live entertainment, and fun for all ages.

Ammanford Pride – 2 August - Ammanford Town Council hosts this vibrant Pride event, celebrating diversity and the local LGBTQ+ community. Expect a day full of colour, joy, and unity in the heart of the town.

Llanelli AugustFest – 10 August - Organised by Ymlaen Llanelli, AugustFest returns with a bang! Enjoy a full day of live music, street entertainment, family fun, and mouth-watering food. It’s set to be one of the biggest events of the summer – a day not to be missed!

Cllr Hazel Evans, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, Carmarthenshire County Council said:“These events play a vital role in our ongoing efforts to bring vibrancy back to our town centres. Made possible by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF), which provides targeted funding to town councils and Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) across Carmarthenshire, and with the ongoing support of Carmarthenshire County Council, these events offer a fantastic opportunity for residents and visitors alike to come together, enjoy our towns, and support local businesses.

“This approach is helping to encourage community spirit and create welcoming, thriving town centres for all to enjoy.”
