Carmarthen’s Oriel Myrddin gallery, which receives funding from Carmarthenshire County Council, has been announced as one of the key partners in Wales’ official presentation at the Venice Biennale 2026 - one of the world’s most prestigious international art exhibitions.

The gallery is working alongside Caernarfon-based artists Manon Awst and Dylan Huw, and Oriel Davies in Newtown, on an ambitious project selected to represent Cymru yn Fenis/Wales in Venice at the 61st International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia.

As a curatorial partner, Oriel Myrddin will play a central role in shaping the development of the exhibition both in Venice and in Wales, ensuring strong connections with local communities and audiences in Carmarthenshire.

Cllr Hazel Evans, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, said: "This is a proud moment for Carmarthenshire. Oriel Myrddin's involvement in such a prestigious international project is a testament to the talent, vision and cultural value nurtured here in our communities. We’re thrilled to see a local gallery play a leading role in representing Wales on the global stage."

Oriel Myrddin is currently undergoing a major redevelopment and is expected to reopen in Autumn 2025, marking an exciting new chapter for the gallery and its engagement with local and national audiences.
