VISITORS of all ages can enjoy a Hallowe’en season packed with ghost stories, spooky trails, immersive experiences and family-friendly activities, as Cadw announces its half term events programme across its historic castles, abbeys and ancient landmarks in Wales.

The programme combines family activities with atmospheric evening events, giving all visitors the chance to explore Welsh heritage through folklore, legends, mystery and seasonal celebrations in some of the country's most remarkable historic settings.

Dr Kate Roberts, Chief Executive of Cadw, said:

"Hallowe’en is a wonderful time to experience Wales' historic places in a different light. Many of our sites have fascinating stories, myths and legends connected to them, making them the perfect backdrop for seasonal events.”

With events taking place across West Wales, the week’s full lineup includes:

Halloween Trail (Kidwelly Castle) - Monday, October 26 to Sunday, November 1, 9.30am-5pm: Hunt for Halloween questions concealed within Kidwelly Castle's walls and solve them all to earn freedom and a prize. Those who fail may find themselves sharing the dungeons with the ghost of Gwenllian.

Halloween Trail (Laugharne Castle) - Saturday, October 31, 11am-4pm: Explore the towers and grounds of Laugharne Castle in search of missing letters. Piece them together to reveal a Halloween word, then claim a prize after completing this seasonal challenge.

Children's Activity Days (Strata Florida Abbey) - Thursday, October 29, 10am-12 noon: Young historians can delve into Strata Florida Abbey's medieval past through interactive activities offered in Welsh or English. Topics include Cistercian monastic life, the Mynachlog Fawr Farmhouse, and the area's industrial landscape. Booking is essential via the website.

A Cadw membership offers free entry to events and unlimited access to more than 130 historic places across Wales. Children go free with adult memberships.
