August has been a very busy month for Pembroke Bridge Club, celebrating several birthdays and a holding a special Charity Bridge Afternoon.

The Breast Cancer Awareness event was a fabulous afternoon on Tuesday, August 15 with lady members preparing delicious sandwiches, scones and savouries.  There were prizes for ‘Guess the weight of the Victoria Sponge’ won by Anne Dalziel, ‘Guess how many teapots can you see?’ was won by Adrian Wheeler and lots of raffle prizes went home with very happy members.  

The 1st prize was very kindly donated by The Dial Inn of Lamphey, a very delighted Tony Cookson was the lucky winner of a Fish and Chip supper for two!  Much thanks is conveyed to the Dial for their kind gesture; it was very much appreciated. 

Winners on the day with the nearest to 55% were John Seal and Kevin Thomas (pictured), both receiving a lovely ‘bottle of red.’  The club raised a total of £335 of which was sent directly to the August Breast Cancer Awareness team.  Thanks go to all club members who donated to this fantastic cause.

Pembroke Bridge Club plays on Tuesday afternoons face to face in Lamphey Village Hall, Pembroke, beginning at 1pm, visitors and new members always welcome. The club also plays together on Friday evenings on Bridge Base Online (BBO) beginning at 7pm.
