An annual fundraising event has hit all the right notes after successfully raising over £21,000, throughout the years, for charity.
Every year Bluestone Brewery Company hold the popular ‘sing-off’ event, which sees six choirs competed against each other, to raise funds for the Wales Air Ambulance.
This year the one-night event raised £3,227 for the all-Wales Charity, and to purchase a community defibrillator. Bluestone Brewery Company has been supporting the lifesaving charity after the Wales Air Ambulance’s medics attended the owners family on more than one occasion.
Bluestone Brewing Company, which is based in Cilgwyn, North Pembrokeshire, has gained a reputation for being a fun and lively community event.
This year’s event was once again hosted by Steffan Evans, and the choir that came out on top as winners was ‘The Singing Men of Cilgwyn’.

The eco-friendly, award-winning micro-brewery and events venue is the first brewery in the world to be given the Green Key Accreditation, an international award that recognises environmentally sustainable businesses.
The Wales Air Ambulance’s Regional Fundraising Manager for West Wales, Mike May, was delighted to be invited to the event and to represent the Charity as one of the four judges on the night.
The donations were received from entry fees, bucket collections, Cwm Gwaun Catering and Bluestone bar profits.
A spokesperson for Bluestone Brewing Company posted on social media their thoughts on the fundraiser. They said: “We are delighted that our charity choir competition raised over £3,000. Thank you so much for all of your donations, which will go towards the purchase of community defibrillator and to Wales Air Ambulance.
“It was another brilliant night and we hope that everybody who came along really enjoyed themselves. Congratulations go to this year's winning choir, ‘The Singing Men of Cilgwyn’, we look forward to welcoming you back next year.
“This event is made by possible by lots of wonderful people coming together. Thanks go out to you all but especially to the fantastic choirs, judges and Steffan Evans for hosting the evening.”
The Wales Air Ambulance is consultant-led, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient and if required, transferring them directly to the most appropriate hospital for their illness or injury.
It is delivered via a unique third sector and public sector partnership. The Wales Air Ambulance Charity relies on public donations to raise the £11.2 million required every year to keep the helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.
The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) supplies highly skilled NHS consultants and critical care practitioners who work on board the Charity’s vehicles.
This advanced critical care includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.
As a pan-Wales service, its dedicated crews, regardless of where they are based, will travel the length and breadth of the country to deliver emergency lifesaving care.
The Charity’s Mike May, said: “I was honoured to be invited along to be one of the judges for this popular fundraising event. The choirs were fantastic and it was a lovely evening. This annual event has raised a tremendous amount for the Wales Air Ambulance and to purchase a community defibrillator. We are delighted that Bluestone Brewery Company has continued to support our lifesaving cause and we appreciate their on-going support of our all Wales charity.
“Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £11.2 million every year to keep its helicopters in the air and its rapid response vehicles on the roads. Without fundraisers, like this one, we wouldn’t be able to be there for the people of Wales when they need us most. Thank you all so much. You’ve all played a part in saving lives across Wales.”
