Narberth Carnival will take place this Saturday (July 25) with the town once again set to be filled with music, street food, and funfair rides at the Carnival Field.
Pembrokeshire’s longest running carnival will kick-off at 2pm.
The colourful carnival parade is the culmination of the Civic Week celebrations for the town, which commenced last Sunday.
Civic Week chairman Chris Walters commented: “Whether you’re a lifelong local or visiting Narberth for the first time, we hope you’ll come along and enjoy everything that’s on offer.
“As Chairman, I’d just like to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped get us to this point – our committee, volunteers, sponsors, advertisers, venues, local businesses and everyone working behind the scenes. This week simply wouldn’t happen without you.
“An incredible team of volunteers has worked tirelessly to put together a fantastic week for our town, and we’ll give it everything we’ve got.
“This year is especially poignant as I dedicate Civic Week to the memory of Anne Owen – our resident worm charmer – whose passion for Narberth and Civic Week will never be forgotten.
“I know she’ll be looking down on us all with that familiar smile, hoping we put on a Civic Week that brings our community together just as she loved to see.
“So let’s fill the streets, support our local businesses, cheer on our participants, and make this a Civic Week to remember!” continued Chris.
“I just wanted to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped make this year’s Civic Week possible. To our amazing committee members who have given up so much of their own time over the past months - thank you.
“To our sponsors and advertisers, thank you for believing in Civic Week and helping us put on another fantastic programme of events. To all of our venue hosts, volunteers, local organisations and businesses who have supported us this year, we genuinely couldn’t do it without you.
“People often only see the events themselves, but behind the scenes there are months of planning, meetings, brochures, road closures, licences, risk assessments, traffic management, phone calls, emails and countless little jobs that all come together to make Civic Week happen.
“It’s been a huge team effort, and I’m incredibly proud of everyone involved,” he added.
Narberth RFC is kindly reminding everyone attending Carnival Day that no bottles or alcoholic drinks are to be brought onto the Carnival Field.
As the hosts of the Carnival Field, the Club has requested that this policy is respected to help ensure the event remains safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Please note that random bag checks may be carried out on entry to the field. Any prohibited items may need to be surrendered before entry.
Float assembly for the grand carnival parade on Saturday will run from 12noon onwards. Affected road are Station Road (B4314). Please note from the junction with St James Street to the junction of John Morgan close will remain accessible to residents until the start of the carnival procession.
The parade will run between 2 and 3.30pm, with affected roads as follows: Water Street, High Street, Spring Gardens, St James Street, Market Square.
