St Johns Church, Tenby will soon be holding its Summer Fayre. This year it will be 40 years since the church’s first summer fayre which was the brainwave of Eluned Brown, sadly now recently passed away at the grand age of 104.

“Eluned was a very faithful member of St Johns, holding many offices and we thought that this year we would dedicate this one to her,” said a church member. “We will have some lovely homemade cakes - which was Eluned’s favourite stall - and much of her costume jewellery, plus pieces from her extensive collection of souvenirs gathered from all parts of the world.”

As always on a Wednesday there will be coffee and tea in the garden (hopefully) and freshly baked Welsh cakes, but there will also be books, jigsaws, costume jewellery and bric-a-brac, a cake stall and jams and chutneys.

The famous fruit machine game will add to the fun, as well as ‘name the doll’ and various raffles. There was going to be a game of smashing crockery, but Health and Safety says ”no”, so instead there will be lots of hand-made pottery for sale at smashed down prices.

It is hoped that many people will come and enjoy the fun and food at the Summer Fayre at St Johns Church, Tenby on Wednesday, August 17, from 10am to 2pm.
