President Meryl welcomed members of Tenby Inner Wheel Club to the meeting at the Fourcroft Hotel on Monday, April 14. In the absence of Betty Ramsey, the safety officer, Meryl stepped in and did the drill! After the reading of the minutes and apologies for absence, president Meryl gave a full report of the activities that she and members had been involved with during the past month. Members had provided entertainment at the Haverfordwest Inner Wheel Club social evening. Liz Storey gave a monologue. She also produced the Tenby Bathing Belles song and dance act. Mrs. Pauline Allen accompanied the ladies on the piano and herself gave a very humorous monologue. The evening was very much enjoyed. Meryl thanked both Liz and Pauline for their contributions. Pauline had been presented with a bouquet of flowers by Meryl. President Meryl and several members had attended the District meeting at Aberavon. Meryl, Carwen, Jean, Pat and Toni had enjoyed a charity Sunday Lunch with the Narberth and Whitland Club. The Spring Charity Fork Lunch, held at St. Johns Church Hall, was a great success. It was good that both the Rev. Michael Butler, of the NSPCC, and Mr. Robert Taylor, of Ty Hafan, were present. The proceeds of the lunch were designated to these charities. President Meryl gave a comprehensive report to members of the Inner Wheel Conference she and several members had attended at Blackpool. Many thanks went to Mary for her excellent organisation. Secretary Jean read the correspondence consisting mainly of invitations from other clubs to their events and a letter of thanks for a donation from St. Teilo's School. A Pandora's Box afternoon was held at Betty Charnock's home on Wednesday. Proceeds for the charity Help the Heroes. The proposed summer outing to Picton Castle was discussed. Margaret and Jan will confirm at the next meeting. The next president for the club, Joyce Walker, has arranged the Handover Dinner for June 23 at Carrington's Restaurant on the Esplanade. A walk is planned for Monday, May 19. Members to meet at 7 pm on the Croft and to walk approximately four miles for the oversees charity, 'Turn on the Tap'. It is planned to end the walk at Café 25. Members unable to take part in the walk are welcome at the Café 25 for a meal at approximately 8 pm. The meeting ended with coffee and biscuits and a friendly chat. The next meeting will be 7.30 pm at the Fourcroft Hotel on Monday, May 12. The speaker will be from the charity DEBRA.
