Businesses are being invited to an event this month to learn about Valero’s plans to construct a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Cogeneration Unit at Pembroke Refinery.

The Haven Waterway Enterprise Zone, in conjunction with Business Wales, are hosting the breakfast meeting in Pembroke Dock on Tuesday, July 17, with representatives from Valero on hand to explain more about the project and outline some of the opportunities for local firms during the construction phase of the project.

Valero’s £127 million project for a 45 megawatt unit will provide power for the refinery, as well as supplement the refinery’s steam demand, and has been the first project to receive planning permission as a Development of National Significance process under the Planning (Wales) Act 2015.

Refinery public affairs manager Stephen Thornton, said: “The CHP Unit project is a major investment in the Pembrokeshire economy that will help Valero to achieve improved energy and cost efficiencies, so that Pembroke Refinery continues to be successful in the competitive global market. As we turn our attention to the construction phase of the project we hope this event will enable us to explain our plans in further detail.”

The event will take place on Tuesday, July 17, in the Bridge Innovation Centre, Pembroke Dock, between 8.15 and 10 am. To register for the event, visit http://bit.ly/2Kpms5Q.
