POLLING day for the Welsh Assembly elections is on May 1, and only those on the electoral register will be eligible to vote.

Electoral registration forms were sent to each household in the county last October. If you failed to return that form, you may not be registered to vote.

To obtain the appropriate registration form, contact Pembrokeshire County Council's Elections Unit in High Street, Haverfordwest.

These forms, however, must be returned by no later than March 11. Failure to do so by that date will render an elector unable to vote.

Those who can register to vote are:

• Anyone 16 or over (but you cannot vote until your 18th birthday);

• British or Commonwealth citizens;

• Citizens of the Irish Republic or other European Union (EU) countries.

Registration forms are available from the Elections Unit, Pembrokeshire County Council, 8 High Street, Haverfordwest, or telephone (01437) 775713/4/5.

• Anyone on the electoral register can also vote by post. A reason is no longer required to ask for a postal vote. For more information and postal vote applications, contact the Elections Unit.
