The proposed Narberth Bridge walkway is currently being surveyed by engineers. It is also now hoped that once the walkway is constructed, new traffic calming measures will be introduced, with the introduction of a crossing point near Castle Street and flashing speed signs near Mill Lane which would indicate the speed a vehicle is travelling. Said County Councillor Wynne Evans: "I must reiterate this is not a footpath, but a walkway, which is a shared surface road, with an approved  extension of carriageway by about four-foot six- inches in depth, with clear markings to signify the boundary of the carriageway and the start of the walkway, made possible by removing some of the grass banks. "The original plan for a footpath had been priced in excess of £450,000," Clr. Evans continued. "This is an alterative scheme, but after this initial work is done, I will be seeking further funding for a new footpath which meets all the criteria laid down. This at least gives people from The Bridge area a safer route to access the town."
