Pembrokeshire County Council has stated that ‘traffic wardens’ will continue to monitor an area of Tenby where complaints about inconsiderate parking have been made, caused by parents and guardians picking up pupils from nearby schools.
Councillors in Tenby recently flagged-up concerns once again on the parking situation around the Tudor Way and Heywood Lane junction, around school pick-up and drop-off times, stating that vehicles such as 4x4s parking right up to the junction, made the matter ‘chaotic’ causing poor visibility for children and guardians crossing the road.
It was suggested that the local authority’s parking enforcement officers could have a ‘blitz’ of the problem area, to help alleviate the matter.
At this month’s meeting of Tenby Town Council, the clerk advised members that PCC’s streetcare and parking manager Marc Owen had sent enforcement officers to take a look and the situation was currently being monitored.
The clerk said that he had also spoken with PCC’s head of infrastructure Darren Thomas regarding the possibility of a zebra crossing being introduced to that area, but this was a medium to long term option, Mr. Thomas explained.
A crossing patrol officer on the Tudor Way junction was due to start this month to coincide with the new school term, councillors also heard.
