It was the end of an era in Tenby last Friday when the Royal Mail vehicle servicing workshop on The Green closed its gates for the last time.

The workshop, which services and repairs Royal Mail vehicles has been closed down by Consignia as part of a three year restructuring programme aimed at reducing costs, increasing efficiency and improving postal services for customers.

The work of the depot in Tenby has been transferred to Haverfordwest, which provides a more centralised service to its internal customers - the Royal Mail, Post Office Ltd., and Parcelforce Worldwide - and the two employees from Tenby will join the vehicle servicing team there.

Full consultation about the transfer was held and agreed with both employees and the postal workers' union.
