A coastline search involving police, coastguards and Tenby's inshore lifeboat crew was launched on Wednesday after a child's pushchair was found close to the waters edge at Monkstone Point.

The alarm was raised during the afternoon by people walking along the beach, but on arrival of the emergency services the buggy had been covered by the flooding tide.

Inquiries were made and a full search of the area was carried out together with the assistance of the Dyfed Powys Police helicopter, but nothing untoward was found.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have left the Maclaren-make blue and white fold-up pushchair at the scene to contact them on 842303.

Officers would also like to speak to anyone who may have any further information or who may have seen anything suspicious in relation to the matter.

Whilst attending the incident, three members of the coastguard team were diverted back to Tenby, where people were reported to be cut off by the tide at St. Catherine's Island.

However, on arrival, the people were found not to be in difficulty and the call was treated as a false alarm with good intent.
