After a time of worship, Pastor Jonathan Fiddy read from John 4 about the woman from Samaria whom Jesus met at the well and offered her 'living water' which would satisfy her deepest needs inside.

Everyone is searching for something to fill the empty feeling inside. Some people, like the woman in the Bible, look for fulfilment in relationships or sex, others try money, careers, power, drugs, alcohol, etc to bring meaning to life.

But these things don't totally satisfy the longing inside us.  We were designed by our Creator, God, to be close to Him and bring Him pleasure. If God is missing from our lives, then nothing else can satisfy that empty space in us which only He can fill!

Jesus didn't condemn the woman at the well for her wrong, adulterous lifestyle, although He didn't condone it either. Jesus accepts people just as they are, whether our lives are in a mess or not, and He sets us free from our sin. He knows how harmful sin is in our lives and He came to set us free and rescue us from our own sinfulness.

Jesus said: "Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life" (John 4v14). When we come to Jesus, He satisfies the longings inside us and brings joy to our lives.

In v23 and 24 it talks about God looking for 'true worshippers'. The Message version says: "Those who worship Him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration."

God wants us to be real with Him, not hypocritically giving Him lip service, but then going against His laws in our lives.  He is looking for people to put Him first in their lives and let Him be their leader. Worshipping God is more than just a Sunday hobby - it's a lifestyle of putting God first in our lives.  God always wants what's best for us, so if we give our lives to Him we can't lose out, we have the best of everything!
