After a meaningful time of praise and worship with vocals, guitar, piano and drums, Pastor Jonathan Fiddy led the church on Sunday in observing two minutes silence in memory of the men who fought to keep our freedom.
He then spoke about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, when Jesus will return to the world to take His followers to be with Him in heaven. He said how the Bible is amazing; the books were written at different times by different people, but they all come together as they were all written by God.
Revelation 21 speaks about how wonderful heaven is and what a fantastic future we have if we have trusted in Jesus to save us. For "only those whose names are written in the Lamb's Book of life will get in." (v27)
He showed how the Bible predicts that Israel would be a nation again, as happened in 1948, even though its people were scattered throughout the world. It also predicts how all nations will rise up against Israel from all sides, but Israel will ultimately be victorious over them. Throughout history there has always been a lot of irrational hatred against Jews, but God will keep the promises He made to Israel and no-one will be able to stamp them out!
The Bible shows in Daniel how there is still one more world empire to come before the end of the world. We can see how there is globalisation happening across the world, with countries interacting more and more with each other in trade, and politicians even talking about a new world order with a one world government. The Bible speaks about people being given the 'mark of the beast' (or Anti-Christ) on their right hands or foreheads in order to buy and sell; already there has been talk of putting credit card microchip implants under people's skins, especially on the backs of hands or on foreheads!
If we belong to Jesus, we do not need to fear any of the disturbing news which we hear, as God gives us 'peace that passes understanding.'
