This week, our time of praise and worship was led by Debbie Fiddy, with Natalie and Jackie also playing keyboard, accompanied by husband Jon, together with Dave on guitars and Josh on drums. The presence of God was present throughout the meeting as Pastor Jon Fiddy then delivered a very strong message beginning with the words from 2 Peter 3 v 10. This describes the Lord Jesus's return to earth coming like a thief in the night. God's eternal plan has been to separate right from wrong, so that only righteousness prevails. We must remember that God is not only holy but full of compassion, mercy and love and deals with us accordingly. In the beginning, God began by separating light from darkness. He spoke of blessing and curses and Jesus himself came to separate with a sword this who acknowledge Him and this who disown Him (Matthew 10 v 32-35). Today, we live in a grey world full of compromise. God however, is a God of clarity and we need to cast out greyness in the church and see clarity and truth preached in all churches. We need to hear true messages about repentance, sin and the blood of Jesus which was poured out for us in order the cleanse us from all sin. John 8 v 31-32 tells of the importance of knowing the truth, which will in turn set believers free. God's word must be proclaimed as it will bring light into the darkness, separating truth and error. All unity needs to be based on truth. Ecumenical gatherings are man's attempt to produce unity. The tower of Babel in the Old Testament was man's attempt to bring unity, but this is not God's way. When we focus on the Lord Jesus we will find true unity in Him. In Ephesians 4 v 11-16, Paul the apostle speaks of God wanting to prepare and equip His people, building them up until they reach unity in the faith, becoming mature, no longer as infants tossed to and fro by every wind of teaching. He requires that we speak the truth in love and hence grow up into Christ. We shall then be standing on the solid rock where there is no division between colour, appearance, young or old, rich or poor. All things will be brought together in Him. (Colossians 1 v 18). Today we live in a world where correctness prevails and not the clarity of truth in case it offends. Jesus loved people too much not to tell them the truth! The church must not be compromised by the world. Truth can cost us by causing separation. Jesus says in Matthew 10 v 39, that, 'Whoever finds his life will lose it and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.' In the Old Testaments with all its troubles, God only acted in our best interests out of a burning love for us. We need to trust Him. He will deal with evil for His perfect justice cannot gloss over sin. All who come to Christ escape the judgement of their sins, but will be rewarded according to their heart attitude towards God and their fellow man. We need to serve God with our whole hearts and tell others about the Lord. Conversely, all who deliberately refuse to accept Christ will have to face an eternal fiery judgement. All our selfish works will be burned up and we do not want too come to the end of our lives wishing that we had loved God and other people more. God's desire is that all people should be saved. We thanked God for the cross of Jesus and that in Him there is no darkness or indecision, but things are crystal clear. We prayed that the Holy Spirit would come into our thinking, giving us boldness in this day to speaks God's word. Emmanuel Gospel Church, Manorbier, meets every Sunday at 10.30 am.
