Praise and worship was led this week by Debbie Fiddy, singing together with Natalie and Jackie, who also played the keyboard and accompanied by Jon and Dave on guitars. We celebrated the greatness and goodness of God even in life's difficult times through sincere, joyful praise. This led seamlessly into a strong message from Pastor John Fiddy expounding on the uniqueness and awesomeness of God. Psalm 96. The Bible tells us in Psalm 139 v 14 that we are fearfully and wonderfully made; an example being that there is an enzyme produced in the liver, being dangerous to other parts of the body, which combats Alzheimers disease. Today, our society centres on man and not on God. We should concentrate our minds on the awesomeness of God and declare His Glory and wondrous works. He is to be feared above all other gods for He made the heavens and the earth. He is the only creator and one true God. all other gods are idols. our God is magnificent and wonderful. Buddha, just before he died said that he was searching for the truth; Jesus said: "I am the way the truth and the life," John 14 v 6. The Bible shows and helps us to understand God, i.e. the truth revealed. Jeremiah 120 v 10-13 tells us that: "The Lord is the true God; He is the living God..." One day, every tongue will confess this truth of the uniqueness of God. Matthew 6 v 33 tells us to seek first the kingdom of God, for we do not live by bread alone. God is omniscient (all knowing). There are approximately seven billion people living on the planet, yet God knows each one and even the number of hairs on their head. This is the vastness of the knowledge of the God we serve. He cares for every detail, not one sparrow falls without His knowing. In psalm 147 v 4 He called all the stars by name and we understand there are as many as two trillion stars for every person! Let us trust Him for He knows more than science, which is still evolving, but if it continues will one day verify God's word. He is the God of history and the eternal future and when He leads us into the unknown, we have an assurance that He knows the future. Hebrews 4 v 12-13 tells us that the word of God is sharper than a two edged sword, judging the thoughts and intents of the heart. One day every person will give an account for what he does. God is omnipresent. He is everywhere at once and yet is seated on His throne in Heaven. Psalm 139 v 9-10 confirms that He is with us wherever we should end up, whether it be in prison or on the mountain top. Matthew 28 v 20 says He is with us always. His presence manifests itself all over the world, inhabiting the praises of His people. God became flesh in the person of Jesus, who died and rose again in a resurrected human body, retaining the nail marks in His hands and feet, making an eternal covenant with us. God is omnipotent. It took one word for Him to heal and raise the dead, for He is the power that created the universe. He is speaking to us today and all things are upheld by the word of His power. If He ceased to be, everything would collapse. When we are 'born again,' God's power comes in restoring order into our lives. The Bible has more authority than any man and we should obey and honour it. God's word has an authority we cannot imagine, bringing peace and hope in the midst of the storm, showing a supernatural power over nature and multiplying our provision as in the feeding of the five thousand. His power supplies victory over sickness and death. What God destines will come to pass. May our faith be lifted for us to think in a new a different way. In the beginning, God spoke 'Let there be light,' a single command which changed everything, creating life on earth. Luke 1 v 37 states that nothing is impossible with God. Nothing can stand against Him. God's word speaks of character and not success. The world however, ranks success and outward appearance as all important. The meeting concluded in prayer, thanking God that He is still active in our midst; verified by personal testimonies.
