Sunday's service started with a time of praise and worship led by Jackie Rodda.
Pastor Ed spoke this week on our freedom in Christ. Ed started by referring to the Israelites coming out of Egypt. God orchestrated their freedom, and even though the enemy (the Egyptians) followed after them, the Lord delivered them and saved them from their pursuers.
Jesus Christ spoke of the sinners being set free. Jesus paid in full the price on our heads at Calvary. When we repent to God of our sinful ways, we our forgiven, and set free from our old ways. John 8:36 says: "So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." It is nothing to do with our own power and strength, nothing that the Israelites did when leaving Egypt brought them freedom, bar obedience to God. The Red Sea was not parted by their own strength, nor was food provided from heaven by their own power. God did it all. The only thing that God wants from us, it for us to trust Him. There are times in our life, when we get uncomfortable, when trials come. For the Israelites, one example was the pursuing Egyptian army, for us, that could be any obstacle life throws at us. Even though the Egyptian army was a very real danger, God delivered the Israelites from them. We need to trust in our redeemer, that what ever danger comes are way, when we look to Him, He will deliver us.
