Last Sunday's service began with a time of praise and worship led by Deborah Fiddy.

Pastor Jonathan continued the sermon series on 'Key landmarks in the Bible' with 'Babel, man uniting'. In Genesis chapter 11, we read that the whole earth had one language, and man was united. The problem was, that man no longer acknowledged God, but were going there own way. The people came together and began to build a city, and a tower that reached far into the sky so that they would make a name for themselves. God recognised the power of their unity, and the danger that it presented as it was fuelled by pride and earthly desires. God said that because of their unity 'nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them'. So God came down and confused the language of the people, and scattered them over the face of the earth.

Pastor Jon went on to talk of the power of unity, and how important it is as Christians that we live in unity. Psalm 130 states: 'How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity'. Unity gets things done, it is supporting one another in times of need. It is of paramount importance that as Christians, we do not let little spats cause division. The enemy will use any opportunity he can to damage the unity among Christians, because he knows that when there is division, things do not get done. We need to recognize these potential divisions for what they are, and press onwards in our walk with the Lord, living and spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to the world.

Baptisms on the beach

Sunday saw the baptisms of two members of Emmanuel Gospel Church in Manorbier, at Manorbier beach.

Despite cold howling winds and rough seas, a enthusiastic crowd gathered to join in the celebration and watch the event take place.

Both Claire and Natalie publicly gave testimony of their faith in Jesus Christ, and proceeded into the sea to be baptised by Jonathan Fiddy, Josh Fiddy and Jackie Rodda.

Adult baptism is considered an important step for all Christians. For any that are interested in adult baptism and would like to know more, please contact Emmanuel Gospel Church on 01834 871975.
