Lively worship at Emmanuel, Manorbier, on Sunday, was led by the pastor's wife, Deborah Fiddy, who introduced a couple of new songs. Afterwards, Rev. Jonathan Fiddy put down his guitar and spoke on an incident that happened a long time ago when four lepers discussed what to do in a time of battle. "If we stay here," they said to each other, "we'll definitely die - but if we go into the enemy camp, they will either kill us or spare us." When they found the enemy camp, it was empty of people but full of food: a lesson to show how it is better to take action than just sitting and waiting for the inevitable. "Too many people sit back and accept their circumstances until they die," commented Jonathan. "But we can make a difference, with Christ Jesus to lead and empower us." "Jesus is radical; he changes things. The Christian life is full of adventure, so don't be diverted, but use your gifts and get rid of apathy. The book of Daniel says, 'they that know their God shall be strong and take action.'" "We may not have confidence in our own skills - Moses thought his stammer would make it impossible for him to talk with Pharaoh - but 'God has not given us a spirit of fear.' We should start out in the strength we have, and God will multiply it like the loaves and fishes that fed 5,000 people." "Good things are going to happen this year," concluded Jonathan. "Be open and obedient. The Lord may lead us down paths we've never been on, so do not be afraid of change, but go forward with joyful expectation." The service concluded with the singing of 'God will Make a Way' and refreshments were served. This Sunday's service will be at the usual time of 10.15 am. All are welcome.
