The talk given by Pastor Jonathan Fiddy on Sunday was 'full of the gospel' as he described how important it was for Jesus to die for mankind.

The Bible makes it clear that God planned this saving sacrifice before the world was even created. From the time of Adam and Eve, God and his prophets were foretelling that one day God would send a saviour, a sinless man who would die to pay the price for all the wrongdoing in the world.

In Old Testament times, people would sacrifice animals in payment for their sin. Rev. Fiddy explained that this was not because God was bloodthirsty, but because every sin carries the curse of death.

Because Jesus was a man, a descendent of Eve through the line of King David, he was suitable to intercede for mankind. Yet he was also 100 percent God; born of a virgin and completely without sin. That is why his death could pay the price once and for all.

Jonathan read from the prophet Isaiah, who spoke of Jesus hundreds of years before his birth, saying "he was wounded for our iniquities, and by his stripes we are healed."

During the time of praise, worship and prayer, Deborah Fiddy sang a beautiful song about the saviour who lives in the hearts of believers.

There is always a warm welcome at Emmanuel Gospel Church, Manorbier (near the garden centre). Sunday services start at 10.15 am. Refreshments are served afterwards.
