TENBY man Emil Chwistek completed his first open sea triathlon in Mumbles of Saturday, June 23, crossing the finish line in an impressive fifth place and third in his age category.

The short course consisted of a 750m sea swim, 21k bike ride and a 2.5k run.

Emil, who is a member of his local triathlon club Five Frogs, was joined by his best friend and training partner Luke Burton, who crossed the finish line in 10th place.

Emil is now set to run the Tenby 10k for Saundersfoot School in July with parents and teachers running to raise money for outdoor play equipment (anyone wishing to support FOSS can donate at the school's reception).

He is aiming to beat his PB of 40 minutes 19 seconds from last year.

Emil is also focused on training for the Long Course Weekend which will see him compete in all three events.

"I thoroughly enjoy competing and just wish I had got into triathlons years ago," he said.

Emil is also competing in his first ever Iron Man in September and has entered for the charity Scope. Anyone wishing to sponsor Emil for this well-deserved charity can do so by contacting him at Classic Kitchen, Whitland.
