FROM Sunday, the Small Gallery at Colby Woodland Gardens will be hosting a group exhibition by eight talented artists calling themselves the 'Warren Group'. The name derives from their regular painting sessions under the tutelage of Arthur Giardelli of the 'Golden Plover Gallery' in Warren. At 96 years of age, Arthur continues to create his own unique constructional art, whilst giving his time generously as both mentor and expert teacher to help other artists in their careers. The group will be showing a range of watercolours focusing on Pembrokeshire landscapes and seascapes with a scattering of still-lifes. A few oils will be sneaked in courtesy of Rebecca Brinton, an art teacher herself, who will be showing some of her latest work together with her mother, Carol Brinton-Thomas (of the former Saundersfoot Pottery), who just happens to be one of her daughter's students. Other well-known names on the local art scene are Ronda Thomas, Marlene Barker-Williams, Dinah Moon and Sue Rees. Two newcomers whose work deserves recognition, and which the gallery is pleased to exhibit, are Mike Catling and Althea Buck. Some of the artists will be in the gallery at the start of their exhibition on Sunday and Monday, April 30, and again on the final day, Sunday, May 13. All of them will be delighted to welcome visitors to the exhibition and to discuss aspects of their work. Colby Gallery, set amid eight acres of beautiful National Trust Woodland Gardens, is open seven days a week, 10 am - 5 pm, together with Bothy Tea Room and National Trust Shop. A variety of National Trust and Gallery events are planned over the season, for young and old alike. Please ask for details. NB. A few places are still available on Graham Hadlow's Watercolour Workshop on Friday, June 15. Please ring (01834) 814200 to reserve.
