Persistent rain greeted the 11 players who gathered for the John Cook Classic now in its ninth year.

John Cook, himself, was there to see all who entered tee-off and then returned later to present his trophy to the eventual winner, Mark Edwards.

With three groups heading out, the rain became too much for one player who called it a day after 10 holes, but the rest persevered and some players needed to use all the course to complete their card - even the fence on the 18th was used to turn a bad hook into a middle of the fairway good shot and a resulting second place for Nick Allen with 37points. Tony Morris with 35 points came in third.

But all honours went to Mark Edwards with 40 points, and a cut in his handicap to 19 was welcomed by Steve Watkins, who has to play him in the club's Allen Cup. Well done Mark.
