Pembrokeshire charity the Darwin Centre celebrated British Science Week in style this year. As part of the Dragon LNG Darwin Experience education programme the local charity arranged 6 events in Pembrokeshire, and worked with numerous partners.
The highlight of the week was a family stage show by Scientific Sue from Science to Life, hosted at the Merlin Theatre, Pembrokeshire College in partnership with See-Science, and the Welsh Governments National Science Academy. The show also engaged the following schools; Bro Dewi, Solva, Croescoch, Eglwyswrw, Cilgerran, St. Dogmaels, and Tasker Milward.
Tenby’s new Welsh medium school Ysgol Hafan Y Mor, Ysgol Casmael, Bro Ingli, and Haverfordwest VC, also joined the Darwin Centre at the Merlin Theatre for their annual Science Aglow event. The event is a celebration of the pupil’s science investigations.
At Science Aglow, the 100 pupils took part in a series of workshops including Silent World to You, Keep Wales Tidy, Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum and Wavetricity.
Darwin also arranged a partnership project delivered by Pembrokeshire Coastal Forum, supported by the Bluestone Foundation and Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority which saw Haverfordwest VC school take part in a renewable engineering field trip to Carew Mill.
