Tributes have been paid to a former headteacher at Tenby’s Tenby’s Secondary School who has sadly passed away.

Mr Chris Noble who was head at Ysgol Greenhill between September 1994 and July 2009. His contribution to education in the locality has been described as ‘truly outstanding’ by a local county councillor, with many students surely owing him a huge debt of gratitude.

Ysgol Greenhill posted on social media today (May 11): It is with great sadness that we share with you that Chris Noble passed away recently. Chris was a former long serving Headteacher at Greenhill and a true gentleman. Our deepest sympathies are with his family.”

County councillor for Tenby’s North Ward, Cllr Michael Williams described Mr Noble as an ‘amazing leader’.

“It is with huge sadness that I learn of the passing of Mr Chris Noble. His contribution to education in this area was truly outstanding and many students owe Chris a huge debt of gratitude,” commented Cllr Williams.

“I was hugely privileged to be involved in his appointment and served as a school governed throughout his entire career as headteacher of Ysgol Greenhill. His total commitment to his students and their well-being was exemplary.

“If I might offer an example of what an amazing leader he was - I was involved in the exclusion of a student, when an appeal was upheld by Governors. Chris relented following this appeal, and that student was reinstated. That same student performed in an exemplary manner after her reinstatement.

“It was a measure of Chris that he called this student in and firstly congratulated this student on her achievements, and then to to say to her that she had proved him wrong in the first instance when she was excluded. That says so much about a wonderful and inspirational educationalist.

“God bless you Chris, and thank you for all of your work for your students,” he added.
