Councillors in Tenby have called for a meeting with the director of education for Pembrokeshire and representatives from Greenhill School to see what support they can offer moving forward after the facility was put in the most serious category by education and training inspectorate Estyn last month.
The school has stated that it is confident that the commitment of all staff and governors will improve standards quickly enabling Estyn to remove the school from Special Measures.
Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby town council, Clr. Laurence Blackhall requested that Greenhill’s headteacher and chair of governors, along with the county’s director of education be invited to a meeting in the New Year.
“It would be good to have a conversation to see how we can support the school and if there’s anything we can do as a council to improve standards of education,” Clr. Blackhall told his colleagues.
“We recognise that the dedicated professionals at the school are working hard to make it better,” he added.
