Saundersfoot CP School welcomed local MP Simon Hart to their celebratory assembly and to a tour of the school. Mr. Hart was invited to the school by Mrs. Bevans, school manager, following a visit to Parliament.
Mr. Hart was warmly welcomed to the school by school ambassadors, Maddie and Ethan, who led Mr. Hart into the whole school assembly - celebrating the successes of the week.
The fantastic pupils of Saundersfoot celebrated various successes, including a Blue Peter badge for Millie, numerous rugby awards following Tenby United’s awards night at Folly Farm, ballet certificates for Lauren and Evie Jean, a mile award for swimmer Ellie and a dance trophy for Imi.
Chair of governors, Canon Michael Butler, reflected on the success of the school and introduced Mr. Hart to the pupils. Mr. Hart commented upon the reputation of the school and how he was looking forward to his visit, as he always enjoys visiting schools in Pembrokeshire.
Following the assembly, school ambassadors, head boy and head girl and senior prefect took Mr. Hart on a tour of the school. The tour began with the outdoor environment and the recent developments that have taken place within the school, new fencing, outdoor environment and early years outdoor environment.
The pupil voice is a strong feature of the school and ambassadors Maddie and Ethan commenced the tour with the African garden and school woodland, where Miss Parker and her Butterflies Class were creating ‘disgusting sandwiches’ based on the book by Gareth Edwards.
Head boy and head girl Nathan and Lucy continued the tour to the roundhouse and MUGA celebrating the fundraising of the FOSS (Friends of Saundersfoot School), ably answering questions about music tuition and the use of the outdoors from Mr. Hart.
Millie, senior prefect, adeptly took the next chapter to Early Years and the outdoor area developed during the school’s recent ‘Ground Force Day’ where parents helped create and organise a ‘mud kitchen.’
Mr. Hart was then treated to a tour of the school building, ending with a cup of tea with chair of governors, Canon Butler, and Clr. Mrs. M. Cavell.
The school council, pupils, staff and governors would like to thank Mr. Hart for taking time out of his busy week to enjoy a tour of Saundersfoot School. They look forward to a return visit in the near future.
