A Pembrokeshire school has received funding from a regional housebuilder to improve its outdoor soft play area for its pupils.

Stepaside CP School, on Carmarthen Road, has been handed £1,000 by Persimmon Homes West Wales through its Community Champions project. Each month the housebuilder donates up to £1,000 each to two groups or individuals in the local area.

The school needs to replace the outdoor soft play area as it has become dangerous for the pupils. The area is now outdated, with many trip hazards.

Stepaside CP has already raised money to give the area a fresh lick of paint to brighten up the area, however, more funding is required to replace the flooring.

Theresa Williams, who applied for the funding on behalf of the primary school, said: “The funding provided by Persimmon Homes West Wales is very important to the school.

“The outdoor soft play area has become a safety hazard for our pupils, as well as looking dated. The donation will ensure that the area is made safe again for the pupils.

“We are extremely thankful for the donation.”

Sharon Bouhali, sales director for Persimmon Homes West Wales, said: “We are delighted to support Stepaside CP School with their revamp of the outdoor play area.

“The new outdoor play area will provide a safe environment for the pupils to enjoy themselves.”
