Five young people from Pembrokeshire have recently returned from representing Wales at an international work project in Naples.
Their time in Italy was focused on looking at support and respect in sport, and how to use sport as a tool for social inclusion. It was facilitated by Spartacus Rugby Social Club.
The young people were Oliver Jones from Ysgol Dewi Sant, Rhiannon Evans from Pembrokeshire College, and Cai Spencer, Elis Allsopp and Hywel Ainsworth, who attend Trinity College in Carmarthen.
They benefited hugely from the experience, says youth leader Ell Lewis, who travelled with them.
“It was a great experience which we would recommend to any young person looking for an adventure, learn new skills, make new friends and develop their understanding of different cultures.”
The project is funded by Erasmus+ and the workshops were delivered by international rugby referees, university professors, teachers, Pembrokeshire Youth service and staff from Liceo Manzoni.
They examined physical, verbal and cyber bullying, the safe use of online material, restorative approaches to tackling bullying and eradicating bullying from sport.
