Primary schools across Pembrokeshire are trialling a uniform option that aims to save parents money.
Manorbier and Narberth Primary Schools are among the first to introduce the initiative which offers parents the option to add school logos to uniforms with iron-on printed badges. .
Each iron-on logo costs £1.50 and can be applied to most cotton or polyester clothing, such as white polo shirts from ASDA, currently priced at £7.50 for a pack of five. This brings the cost of a branded shirt down to £3. Traditional embroidered polos typically cost around £10 each.

According to the latest data from the Department for Education, parents spend an average of £343.28 on primary school uniforms and £442.25 on secondary school uniforms.
Manorbier Primary School headteacher Sharon Davies said: “We have loved being a part of this pilot and trialling the logos with our families. It is so refreshing to see a company thinking about the wider issues of uniform cost and looking at affordable alternatives that still allow schools to retain their identity.”
One mum at Manorbier Primary, said: “I am extremely happy with them. I have always found embroidered jumpers so very expensive, but this option has been the best.”
Woven Labels UK, the Pembrokeshire-based manufacturer of the iron-on logos, said: “We have extensively wash-tested the logos and they can withstand 40-50 washes.”
One member of staff at Narberth Primary School, said: “Having logos on uniforms makes it much easier to spot our pupils on school trips and keep them safe. And by saving money on uniforms, parents are better able to support the cost of these experiences.”
Caroline Astley, Director of Woven Labels UK, said: “We aim to make school uniforms more affordable for families, while enabling schools to maintain their identity with branded clothing.”
