Six weeks has flown by at St. Florence, and what a busy six weeks it has been! We have welcomed our part-time three-year-olds into the school, who have settled in fantastically well. Our new enrichment clubs, run on Tuesday afternoons, have been a great success and all classes have produced some wonderful work linked to our themes of ‘Fairytales’ in Foundation Phase and ‘World War II’ in Key Stage Two.
LEARNING TO BOWL
The school have had a fantastic time learning to bowl at Tenby Bowling Club and Heatherton respectively; we are very grateful to the volunteers who have given up their time to allow our pupils this opportunity.
MAKE DO AND MEND
As part of our Make Do and Mend enrichment the pupils have learnt some valuable skills such as knitting and sewing. They have been very keen to create all manner of items and have produced some wonderful work.
URDD FOOTBALL
The school took two teams along to the Urdd Football Tournament at the Clicketts last week and both worked hard and were a credit to the school. The girls team had a great run getting to the Semi Final before losing narrowly 1-0 to the eventually winners Pembroke Dock. A big thank you to Jess Wharton for helping to coach the teams and the parents who came along to support.
DYDD SHWMAE
As part of Dydd Shwmae the pupils dressed up as famous welsh people or in welsh attire. Criw Cymraeg hosted their very own café ‘St. Flo’ and sold Moctails and Welsh Cakes to raise money for new welsh resources.
BAKE SALE
The school held a coffee afternoon where the pupils were asked to dress up in costume linked to their topic. There were many donations of Rainbow Cakes, Edible Mice and Fairycakes for Foundation Phase and Rationed baking linked to World War 2. The Bake Sale raised a grand total of £240!
