An exciting development for education in Pembrokeshire begins this month with the opening of Redhill High School, a new independent secondary school in Clynderwen, near Narberth. Housed in the beautiful and historic setting of Clynderwen House, Redhill High will offer an exceptional and traditional education with a strong commitment to student wellbeing, in line with the longstanding tradition of its partner school, Redhill Preparatory School in Haverfordwest.
The school benefits from a purpose-built Science laboratory, as well as 11 classrooms, a school library, and brand-new canteen. With extensive school grounds, including an acre and a half of woodland, the environment promises to be a calm and inspiring place to learn. The school motto ‘Dare to be Wise’ reflects the directors’ commitment to an ethos of curiosity and independent thought. Students will be encouraged to explore the cultural and sporting opportunities on hand in a well-disciplined and supportive environment.
Headmaster Alun Millington, previously head at St. Michael’s School, Llanelli, said: “This school marks a significant investment in independent education in the Pembrokeshire and Carmarthen areas. We believe our superb teaching staff and small class sizes will enable students to become highly successful, confident and well-rounded young people.”
Mr. Millington, pictured with special guest Huw George, believes that Redhill’s future is bright - “With students signed up for entry in 2019 and 2020, we are already experiencing significant interest from across West Wales.” Students are going to the school not only from the Redhill Prep, but also other independent and state schools across the region.
Redhill High School currently teaches students up to Year 10, with a Sixth Form planned for opening in 2020, or earlier subject to demand. The maximum class size is 20 and scholarships are available. With transport from across the region, the school looks set to establish itself as an outstanding educational institution in the heart of West Wales.
